KaikuSDR

Hear a whole band at once.

KaikuSDR is a scanner for cheap SDR dongles. It watches every channel of a band at the same time, plays what is on the air, and helps you find out who is talking and keep the channels you care about. On a Mac or a PC. Made for people who have never used an SDR.

KaikuSDR scanning the airband, two metres and PMR446 at once: the chart of every channel, the waterfall, and an open channel

Every channel at once

One tuning of an RTL-SDR covers 2.4 MHz; KaikuSDR splits it into every channel there is and hops across the band. A transmission opens its channel the moment it starts. Nothing is missed while the scanner is "somewhere else".

Starts without knowing anything

Plug the dongle in, say where you are and what you want to hear: aircraft, boats, amateur radio, walkie-talkies. The band plan, the channel widths and the modes are the app's business. Gain and squelch look after themselves.

Keep what you find

Name a channel while it is open, lock out the ones you never want to hear again, record transmissions, read them back as text. Several dongles at once in the full version: the band is covered that many times faster.

Lite is free. Full is bought once.

Lite runs one receiver and has no time limit. The full version runs as many receivers as you have and adds the serious tools. It costs €69, once: a year of updates, and the versions of that year are yours to keep for good. What each has.

Receivers

RTL-SDR dongles (v3, v4, through rtl_tcp) and Airspy (R2, Mini) today; Airspy HF+, HydraSDR, HackRF One, bladeRF, Fobos and SDRplay are written and wait for hardware to be checked on. What each needs on a Mac and on Windows.
